FAQ
FAQ - Design Center Planning
Why do you provide three design directions instead of just one?
Choosing finishes is personal.
Rather than presenting a single concept, we develop three carefully curated design directions that all work beautifully together.
This allows you to compare different possibilities while keeping every recommendation cohesive, intentional and aligned with your home.
Is this a complete Interior Design Project?
No.
Design Center Planning is a planning service created specifically for your builder's Design Center appointment.
Its purpose is to help you confidently select your builder's finishes, materials and available options.
If you're looking for a fully customized interior design project, including layouts, custom millwork, lighting design, furniture selection and implementation drawings, our Essentials and Signature services are the right fit.
Can you work with any builder?
Yes.
Design Center Planning was created to work with most production and semi-custom builders that offer a Design Center or a structured selection process.
We'll tailor your recommendations using the information and product catalogs provided by your builder whenever possible.
Do I need to have my Design Center appointment scheduled before purchasing?
No.
However, your Personalized Design Plan is delivered within five business days after we receive your completed questionnaire and all required project information.
We recommend purchasing early enough to allow time before your appointment.
What information do I need to provide?
We'll ask you to upload:
• Builder floor plan
• Builder Design Catalog (if available)
• Completed Design Questionnaire
• Inspiration images (optional)
Once we've received everything, we'll begin developing your Personalized Design Plan.
Do your recommendations include upgrade pricing?
No.
Upgrade pricing is determined by your builder and may vary between communities, collections and product packages.
During your Design Center appointment, your consultant will provide the official pricing for every available option.
Our role is to help you make confident design decisions—not to estimate upgrade costs.
Will the 3D images look exactly like my future home?
Not exactly.
They're created to help you confidently visualize the recommended design direction before your Design Center appointment.
While they closely reflect the proposed materials, colors and finishes, final results will depend on your builder's available products, construction details and installation.
What happens after I purchase?
You'll receive a welcome email with everything you need to get started.
From there you'll:
• Upload your project information
• Complete your Design Questionnaire
• We begin developing your Personalized Design Plan.
• You'll receive your completed Design Book within five business days after all required information has been submitted.
What if I don't like any of the three design directions?
Our Design Questionnaire was carefully developed to understand your style through images, preferences and the way you want your home to feel—not just through written answers.
Every design direction is created specifically around the information you provide during that process.
Because each recommendation is highly personalized from the beginning, it's it's rare for clients not to connect with at least one of the proposed directions.
If, after receiving your Design Plan, you'd like to explore a completely different concept, we'd be happy to develop a new design direction as an additional service.
Can I request changes after receiving my Design Plan?
Design Center Planning is designed as a streamlined planning service with a fixed scope and delivery timeline.
For that reason, revisions aren't included.
This allows us to provide a highly personalized Design Plan while keeping the process efficient and accessible.
If you'd like to explore additional concepts or request modifications after delivery, we're happy to help through additional design services.
Can I explore another design direction later?
If you'd like to compare a different design concept after receiving your Personalized Design Plan, we can develop an additional design direction as a separate service.
Your original Design Plan remains unchanged, allowing you to compare different possibilities before making your final decisions.
Can I see another version of a specific room?
Yes.
If you'd like to explore a different kitchen, bathroom, flooring combination or another specific design idea, we can develop an additional concept for that space as a separate service.
This allows you to compare new possibilities while preserving your original Design Plan.
Does my purchase include ongoing design support?
Design Center Planning is a one-time planning service created to prepare you for your builder's Design Center appointment.
Once your Personalized Design Plan has been delivered, the service is considered complete.
If you would like continued design guidance after your Design Center appointment, we'd be happy to discuss our Interior Design services.
Can you help me after my Design Center appointment?
Absolutely.
Many homeowners choose to continue working with Axis after completing their builder selections.
If you'd like help furnishing your home, designing custom millwork, developing lighting plans or creating a complete interior design project, our Essentials and Signature services provide continued support from planning through implementation.
Why isn't this service free like the builder's Design Center?
Because they are two completely different services.
Your builder's Design Center helps you purchase the products they offer.
Axis helps you decide which products best fit your home before you walk into that appointment.
Our goal is to organize your ideas, eliminate guesswork and help you make confident decisions before they become permanent.
FAQ - Interior Design Project
How does the design process work?
Every project follows the same structured methodology.
After your proposal is approved, you'll receive a welcome email with the next steps. We'll collect your project information, review your questionnaire and begin developing your design.
Throughout the project, we'll present the design, gather your feedback, complete the included revision rounds and deliver your final Axis Design Book.
Depending on your selected service, you'll also receive access to the Axis Project Tracker and ongoing implementation guidance.
Do I need to live near you?
No.
Axis is a fully remote interior design studio.
We work with homeowners in different locations through a collaborative online process using drawings, videos, photographs, questionnaires and virtual meetings when needed.
How do we communicate during the project?
Every project includes a dedicated Project Workspace.
Communication takes place via WhatsApp or email, depending on your preference and project needs.
This keeps all project discussions, drawings, documents and updates organized in one place throughout the design process.
What's the difference between Essentials and Signature?
Both services include a complete interior design project developed specifically for your home.
Essentials is designed for homeowners who feel comfortable managing purchasing and implementation independently.
Signature includes everything in Essentials, along with continued professional guidance during implementation, including proposal reviews, documentation support and ongoing project assistance.
Can you design just one room?
Absolutely.
Whether you're designing a single room, several spaces or an entire home, every project follows the same methodology and receives the same level of attention and care.
Can I add more rooms later?
Yes.
Many clients begin with one or two spaces and decide to expand their project over time.
Additional rooms can be added based on availability and will be quoted separately.
What will I receive at the end of my project?
Your completed project is delivered through two complementary tools.
The Axis Design Book documents every approved design decision, including layouts, 3D visualizations, implementation drawings and room-by-room shopping lists.
The Axis Project Tracker helps you organize purchasing, monitor progress and keep implementation on track as your project moves forward.
Together, they create a complete design and implementation system that supports your project from approval through completion.
Why do your projects include so much documentation?
Because beautiful drawings alone don't build a home.
A successful project also requires organization, clear decisions and documentation that everyone involved can understand.
The Axis Design Book and the Axis Project Tracker work together to help you know exactly what has been approved, what needs to be purchased and what comes next throughout your project.
Can my contractor use your drawings?
Yes.
Your implementation drawings are created to clearly communicate the approved design and support budgeting and construction.
Depending on your project, they may include layouts, elevations, cabinetry details and other design documentation.
Engineering, structural and permit drawings are not included.
Do you provide engineering or permit drawings?
No.
Axis provides interior design documentation created to clearly communicate the approved design and guide implementation by your contractor and other trade professionals.
When required by local regulations or the scope of work, structural, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical engineering and permit drawings remain the responsibility of the appropriate licensed professionals.
Do you purchase products for clients?
No.
We provide detailed specifications and shopping information so you can purchase products confidently.
Signature clients also receive ongoing guidance throughout the purchasing process, but purchasing remains the client's responsibility.
What happens if a selected product becomes unavailable?
Whenever possible, we'll recommend a suitable alternative that maintains the overall design concept.
If significant redesign is required after the project has been approved, additional design services may be recommended.
How many revisions are included?
Both Essentials and Signature include two consolidated design revision rounds during the design presentation phase.
Additional revisions can be requested as an optional service.
What if I change my mind after approving the design?
Changes to the approved concept, layout or project scope after design approval are considered additional services.
This allows us to maintain a structured process while ensuring every change receives the attention it deserves.
Can I continue working with you after my project is complete?
Absolutely.
Many homeowners return to Axis as their home evolves.
Whether you'd like to design additional rooms, request new drawings or receive further implementation support, we'll be happy to discuss the next phase of your project.
Why isn't every project accepted immediately?
Every project receives the same level of attention, organization and care, regardless of its size.
To maintain that standard, we intentionally limit the number of active projects we accept at any given time.
This allows us to dedicate the time needed to thoughtfully develop each design, provide timely communication and deliver the level of quality every Axis project deserves.
If we're fully booked, we'd be happy to place you on our waiting list or discuss the next available start date.
